Barbados is located 13 degrees above the equator, its
166 square miles in size and 21 miles long
by 16 miles wide at its extremities. the population is about 260,000 and there are
eleven parishes from densely
populated St. Michael and Christ Church to mainly rural St. Andrew, St. Joseph and St. John. The
island's main industries are tourism and sugar. Barbados is 4,200 miles from London and 2,000 miles
from New York, its clocks are 4 hours behind GMT and one hour ahead of EST.

As you would expect from a tropical island, Barbados'
climate is excellent all year. the day time
temperature is always in the 80's Fahrenheit with nights down to around 75 degrees Fahrenheit. There is
a steady cooling breeze nearly always. The sun shines over 3000 hours a year and the rain comes in
short heavy showers which are soon replaced by sunny skies. |
