The island's current is 115 volts, 50 cycles. High Holdings has a 230 volt supply in some bedrooms and adapters and local appliances are available.

Shops are open from 8:30am - 4:30pm on weekdays and until lunchtime on Saturdays but are closed on Sundays.

Supermarkets open from 8am until 6 or 7pm, 6 days a week with late closing on Thursdays and Fridays. Some open on Sunday mornings. Banks open from 8am - 3pm Monday to Thursday and until 5pm Fridays but not at weekends. Cash machines are available 24 hours 7 days at bank branches, large stores, bus stops etc.
